Tire Damage Sidewalls | For Safe Driving – Take Action

Tire Side Wall Indentations.

Bad Road For Tires
Hard To Avoid If There No Place To Go

This is okay concerning your safety and the safety of others out on the road with you. When You do see Tires with damaged Sidewalls and slight indentations, can usually be seen on taller tires with higher sidewalls or more sidewall visible compared to the low-profile sports Tire. If You see this on your tires or someone else, then it’s time to take action for safe driving precautions.

If You feel that the size of the Bubble is telling You something, for safe driving, take action.

Possibly one could have their Tires at a higher-than-normal air pressure setting. This could be the case if You are pulling an RV trailer or maybe packing firewood in a trailer or in the back of one’s truck.

The good news here for you is that fortunately, it is only a Cosmetic Condition of the Tire Surface, that plays a no effect performance issue with your Tire. Happy Motoring and always be checking your tires for anything that looks suspicious to You.

Tire Indentations – Why?

Why do I have Tire indentations in my brand new or my good used Tires anyway? The reason is that the reinforced multiple cords that run from the inside of the tire across the tread to the outside of the tire are the cause. This overlapping of the multiple cords is gathered and bonded into the rubber sidewall of the Tire.

The joining splices of the cords are the most reinforced area of the tire sidewall structure. It is the overlapping splices that create the indentations in the tire sidewall when they are inflated, not really visible when the tire is off the rim.

Tire Sidewall Protrusions – Bulges – Bubbles

This is a Concern!!! Bulging or Bubble Shaping on the Tire Sidewall inside or the outside sidewall is Screaming out to You that there is a Separation of the internal members of the Tire. The cords inside the Tire have separated into an Extreme Unsafe Driving Condition.

When You see this, It means to go directly to your favorite Tire Shop or to one that is very close to where You are at the moment. This is a Major Safety Concern and remember when driving to the Tire Shop, drive at a lower speed of 20-30 miles per hour or Slower.

Caution avoid all potholes and rough road terrain and those curbs, that always seem to Meet and Greet You even though one seems to make a wide turn to miss the curbs.

What Causes Those Bulges – Bubbles

Tire damage
Tough On Tires

We already know that the Tire’s inner liner has been damaged from an impact that creates a small hole or tears in the sidewall of the Tire compromising the strength of the sidewall plies within the Tire.

The Bulge or Bubble may be very small at first sight but guaranteed it will expand and enlarge to become Dangerous to Yourself and your Family members as well as the others driving on the road that may be near You. This tire could surely help, but it is expensive!

Here Is A List of Causes of Tire Bulged – Bubbles

1. Potholes, those nasty holes in the pavement where the asphalt is usually jagged or roughed up from winter weather harshness. Usually quite deep and not always visible or not seen soon enough to avoid contact with the Front Tire or both Tires.

2. Railway Crossings. Ever come across a set of Railway Tracks where the asphalt or cement between the tracks has deteriorated or sunk down from whatever cause? This can create a very rough slap or pounding effect on the Tires’ front and back. Especially if You have to travel that road daily to and from Work or School.

3. Speed Bumps. Some are relatively gentle to go maneuver, and others are quite extreme which means one really has to go slowly up and over. Whether moderate or aggressive style speed bumps they all possibly can cause Tire Issues. Yes, the driver may have a little part in the play of Tire Aches!

Anyone has done what I have done at times, that being taking a run at the speed bumps and getting air under the Tires. Anyway don’t do it, that silly move will cause more than Tire damage trust me.

4. Heavily Damaged Roads – Construction Sites. Basically, one has no control over roads in areas like this even though these areas or usually controlled by Flag People controlling the traffic and speed limits through their Zones. Things that smack and pound your Tires, like rocks broken, asphalt broken up pavement, etc.

It may be a slow speed but every rough hit on the Tire has the potential to cause Tire Damage. Maybe even nuts and bolts or screws and junk that have fallen off their work trucks that You may run over.

5. Curbs. You know that great artistically designed asphalt or cement curbing that is supposed to keep drivers in the correct area of travel around Malls, any parking lots or Family gathering areas (restaurants), etc?

Those curbs I think are specifically designed to Meet and Greet the Tires of one’s vehicle.

When I get involved in Curb Contact and my Wife is with me, I know that if I look over, her eye contact with me will say it all. (Do I have to run into every curb). Anyway, a Tire or Tires can only take so much contact with obstacles that are tougher than Rubber Tires.

Chances are a slight Kiss to the curb would be okay, but the hard Curb Punch to a Tire will possibly if often repeated, cause undesirable consequences to rear its head.

6. Conclusion.

In my case, it probably was not the curbs’ fault. You see I drive a truck so most of the time I cut too short on my turns. When another vehicle is pulling out when I am pulling into a curb-infested area this appears to be a situation for me.

I would just like to conclude, saying to always keep in mind that any Hard Hit or Contact to your Tires can and will at times create Issues with the Tire, which will then lead to Bulging or Bubbling.
